At just 20 years old, Maham Fatima from Quetta is already carving out her unique path in life. Currently pursuing a degree in architecture at the National College of Arts (NCA), Maham is driven by a desire to explore, experiment, and create.
“When I was coming to NCA, my goal was to try everything once,” she reflects. This bold approach has seen her dip her toes into various creative fields—from modeling and playing instruments to performing in plays, writing short films, and even contemplating writing a book. “Alhamdulillah, I’ve had the opportunities to almost finish all of those goals except a few that I’m still working on,” she shares with a sense of accomplishment.
However, Maham’s ambitions don’t end at the gates of NCA. Post-graduation, she envisions launching her own clothing brand. This dream is deeply rooted in her childhood experiences. “Ever since I was a kid, I never really found clothes that I felt like myself in, so I would design my own clothes, get them stitched from a tailor, and wear those,” she explains. Maham wants to extend this personal expression to others, creating unique designs that make people feel more comfortable and beautiful—essentially, more like themselves. “But that is way in the future,” she humbly adds.
Beyond her professional aspirations, Maham harbors personal goals that reflect her desire for independence and a meaningful life. “I want to be fully independent, have a house of my own,” she declares. With a passion for travel, she hopes to explore the world, expanding on her experiences of traveling within Pakistan.
Maham’s drive is also fueled by a profound sense of social responsibility. “One of my goals is to create opportunities for others because I believe it’s my responsibility, given my privilege”
In all her endeavors, Maham is guided by a desire to make her life count. “I want my life to matter, or else I’ll just be another person, another speck in the universe who existed and then eventually stopped existing,” she muses. With such a clear vision and determination, it’s evident that Maham Fatima is set on making a lasting impact, both in her own life and in the lives of those around her.
